Il PrenatalSAFE® Karyo consente di rilevare aneuploidie e alterazioni cromosomiche strutturali fetali a carico di ogni cromosoma, con risultati molto simili alla determinazione del cariotipo fetale eseguito con tecniche invasive di diagnosi prenatale.

L’esame è eseguibile tra la 10a e la 14a settimana di gestazione.

Il PrenatalSAFE® 5 valuta le aneuploidie dei cromosomi 21, 18, 13 e dei cromosomi sessuali (X e Y).

Urine 1° void

Required material

  • urine collection sterile container

How to collect the sample

  • wait about 7 days from the end of menstruation
  • wait at least 7 days from the end of any antibiotic therapy
  • use water and a neutral soap to wash your hands and, thoroughly, the urethral orifice and the surrounding area. Then dry the cleaned areas
  • open the sterile container taking care not to touch the edge and inside. COLLECT A SMALL AMOUNT OF THE FIRST STREAM OF THE URINE in the sterile container
  • close the container being careful not to contaminate its edge
  • deliver to the laboratory as soon as possible, otherwise keep it in the fridge at 4°C for max 24h. Keep away from heat sources.

Urinalysis

  • wait about 5 days from the end of menstruation
  • wait at least 7 days from the end of any antibiotic therapy

  • wait minimum 3 days from the end of menstruation or blood loss
  • avoid sexual intercourses in the 2 days before the exam
  • during the 3 days before the exam do not use ovules, creams or vaginal washes

Preparation for the exam

The examination is carried out 1-3 weeks after the conclusion of the vaccination cycle (2 doses or single dose).

Urinary cytology with 3 samples

How to prepare for the exam

  • Wait at least 3 days from the end of menstruation or blood loss
  • do not use creams or vaginal washing during the 3 days before the test
  • in the 24h before the exam avoid sexual intercourses

Necessary material:

  • 3 sterile urine collection containers

Method of collection:

  • in the morning, as soon as you get up, start urinating the first jet of urine
  • stop urination and wash the external genitalia
  • collect the rest of the urine in the sterile container, taking care not to touch the edge, close tightly.
  • send to the laboratory as soon as possible, otherwise keep in the fridge for a maximum of 4h
  • repeat the collection for two consecutive days

Endourethral swab

Research:

Aerobic bacteria, fungi, mycoplasma, ureaplasma, chlamydia and gonococcus with PCR method.

How to prepare for the exam

  • wait at least 7 days from the end of any antibiotic therapy
  • DO NOT URINATE FOR AT LEAST 2 HOURS BEFORE THE EXAMINATION
  • avoid sexual intercourses during 24 hours before the exam
  • the day of the exam clean carefully the external genitals

 

For female patient:

  • Wait at least 5 days after menstruation ends
  • In the 3 days prior to the exam, do not use vaginal pessaries, creams or douches

After the exam it is recommended to drink plenty of water during the day to promote urination and obtain a mechanical washing of the urethra.

How to prepare for the exam

no exam preparation is required but DO NOT come to the Lab if:

  • you are in quarantine
  • you don’t have the certificate issued by the competent authorities to certify the end of isolation

How to collect the sample

  • wait at least 7 day from the end of any antibiotic therapy
  • wash hands and the intimate area with water and neuter soap, then dry the cleaned area.
  • obtain the seminal fluid through masturbation: all the ejaculated fluid must be collected into the appropriate sterile container.
  • close the container carefully in order to avoid the fluid to leak during delivering to the laboratory. Be careful not to touch the edge.
  • deliver to the laboratory as soon as possible, otherwise keep in the fridge at 4°C. Keep away from heat sources

Vaginal swab

Research:

Aerobic bacteria, fungi, trichomonas.

How to prepare for the exam

  • wait at least 5 days after menstruation ends
  • wait at least 7 days  from the end of any antibiotic therapy, both local therapy (creams, candles, ovules, and vaginal washes) and general ones (oral, intramuscolar, intravenous)
  • avoid sexual intercourses during 24 hours before the exam
  • the day of the exam, perform a regular hygiene of the external genitalia
  • In the 3 days prior to the exam, do not use vaginal pessaries, creams or douches

The vaginal-endocervical swab may cause a small blood loss, which spontaneously regresses within 24h.

Covid-19 PCR molecular swab test

How to prepare for the exam

no exam preparation is required but DO NOT come to the Lab if:

STAMEY-MEARES Test

How to prepare for the exam

The exam consists in collecting 3 urine samples and 1 prostate secretion sample;

At home:

  • first urine sample: it is collected in the morning and it can be kept in the fridge for a maximum of 4-8 hours. If this is not possible, do not urinate for 2-3 hours before the test
  • second urine sample: it is collected right after the first one, in the same way

At the Medical Center:

  • the doctor performs the prostate massage and collects the the prostate secretion sample 
  • third urine sample: it is collected right after the prostate massage.

PAP smear

Collection of cells from the cervical area to investigate any pre-cancerous lesions caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

How to prepare for the exam

  • wait 5 days from the end of menstruation
  • avoid sexual intercourse in the 2 days before the exam
  • do not use ovules, creams or vaginal washes in the 3 days before the exam

Urine culture

Research:

Aerobic bacteria.

Required material

  • urine collection sterile container

How to collect the sample

  • wait about 5 days from the end of menstruation
  • wait at least 7 days from the end of any antibiotic therapy
  • use water and a neutral soap to wash your hands and, thoroughly, the urethral orifice and the surrounding area. Then dry the cleaned areas
  • START TO URINATE INTO THE TOILET and STOP AFTER THE FIRST STREAM OF THE URINE
  • open the sterile container being careful not to touch its edge and COLLECT THE REST OF URINE (40-60 ml)
  • close the container being careful not to contaminate the edge.
  • deliver to the laboratory as soon as possible, otherwise keep in the fridge at 4°C. Keep away from heat sources

  • be fasting for at least 6h from the last meal
  • avoid intense physical activity in the days before the exam
  • before the exam, consult your doctor if you may need to suspend or delay medications
